New Opportunity:

Live-in Nanny/Housekeeper for an International Family in London

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced live-in Nanny/Housekeeper with a strong background in infant care to join an international family based in London.

This is a stable, long-term position in which the care of the family’s baby will be the primary responsibility, accounting for approximately 80% of the role. The position will also include selected household duties, laundry, ironing and the preparation of simple, healthy meals when the baby’s routine and needs allow.

The family is seeking a warm, responsible and professional individual who can become a trusted and consistent presence within their home for many years to come.

Particular consideration will be given to Spanish- or Greek-speaking candidates, as well as native English speakers, provided they already have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom.

Salary and Accommodation

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience and professional background.

Accommodation: Private bedroom and bathroom provided within the family residence in London.

Holiday: 33 days per year, including Bank Holidays.

Working Hours and Start Date

Usual working hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 am-7:00 pm

  • Friday: 9:00 am-5:00 pm

Occasional availability may be required on a Friday evening or Saturday morning. When this occurs, it will be arranged in advance and compensated with additional time off.

Contract type: Permanent, long-term position.

Expected start date: March/April 2027.

The family is also considering arranging a paid one-week trial beforehand, most likely during January or February 2027. Should travel be required for the trial, the associated expenses will be covered by the family.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care for the baby, which will remain the primary responsibility of the position.

  • Organise and manage her daily routines, including sleep, feeding, hygiene, play and age-appropriate developmental activities.

  • Create a warm, safe, calm and stimulating environment that supports her emotional, physical and cognitive development.

  • Gradually accompany the child to activities, walks, classes and other age-appropriate engagements as she grows.

  • Work closely with the parents and maintain natural, consistent communication regarding the child’s needs, routines and development.

  • Carry out general cleaning and maintain the day-to-day order of the home when childcare responsibilities allow.

  • Manage laundry and ironing.

  • Maintain and organise the areas associated with the child and provide general support with the smooth day-to-day running of the household.

  • Prepare simple, fresh and healthy meals for the family when the daily schedule allows.

  • Accompany the family for approximately three to four weeks per year on trips to Spain and/or Greece.

  • During these periods of travel, the role will be primarily focused on childcare and will generally involve reduced working hours.

Requirements

  • Strong and demonstrable previous experience as a nanny, particularly with babies and young children.

  • Previous experience working within private households.

  • Excellent and verifiable professional references.

  • Current legal right to work in the United Kingdom, whether through settled status, pre-settled status or another valid immigration status or permit allowing lawful employment in the country.

  • Previous experience living or working in London will be particularly valued.

  • Spanish, Greek or native English as a primary language.

  • Spanish- and Greek-speaking candidates should have a sufficient level of English to communicate comfortably and confidently within an international environment in London.

  • A high level of discretion, professionalism, responsibility and respect for the family’s privacy.

  • A warm, patient personality with a genuine vocation for childcare.

  • The ability to combine independence and initiative with strong communication with the parents.

  • Excellent organisational skills, flexibility and a willingness to integrate naturally into the daily routine of a family household.

  • Availability to accompany the family on occasional international travel throughout the year.

  • A genuine interest in a stable, long-term position.

Additional Information

This opportunity is particularly suited to someone who genuinely enjoys working with babies and is looking for much more than a temporary position. The family hopes to find someone who can grow professionally alongside them and, over time, become a consistent and deeply trusted presence in their daughter’s everyday life.

Although this is a combined Nanny/Housekeeper position, the child’s care will always remain the priority. Household responsibilities will be organised around her routines and will only be carried out when childcare needs allow.

The family provides private accommodation within their residence, competitive holiday entitlement for the UK and a working structure designed to support a stable, long-term professional relationship.

Given the family’s international background, particular interest will be given to applications from Spanish or Greek professionals already living in the United Kingdom, as well as candidates of these nationalities who hold settled status, pre-settled status or another current legal right to work in the country.

Native English-speaking candidates who meet the required professional profile will also be considered. The family does not have any pets, and a driving licence is not required.

Above all, we are looking for someone who is warm, discreet, flexible, mature and professional, with excellent references and a genuine vocation for childcare, who values the opportunity to build a lasting professional relationship with an international family.
