Live-out Housekeeper for a Private Residence in Madrid

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced, proactive, organised and personable Housekeeper to take day-to-day responsibility for the care and upkeep of a high-standard private residence located in Barrio de Salamanca, Madrid.

This is a stable, long-term position for someone with previous experience working within private households, who is capable of maintaining the property to an impeccable standard while anticipating the household’s needs with discretion, initiative and exceptional attention to detail.

The principal travels regularly, so the successful candidate should be equally comfortable working discreetly when the family is in residence, collaborating with the wider household team, or working independently during periods when the property is unoccupied.

No cooking is required.

Salary and Accommodation

Salary: €72,000 - €89,000 gross per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the residence to an impeccable standard through excellent daily and deep cleaning, paying particular attention to the appropriate care of furnishings, finishes, textiles and household items.

  • Manage laundry, ironing, garment and fabric care, bed linen, and the orderly organisation and presentation of wardrobes, linen cupboards and storage areas.

  • Prepare the residence thoroughly before the principal’s arrival and restore it to an immaculate and organised condition following periods of residence, guest visits or private entertaining.

  • During periods when the principal is travelling, attend the property according to a previously agreed schedule to ensure that it remains clean, secure, organised and fully prepared for their return.

  • Make productive use of quieter periods to undertake deep cleaning, organisational projects, wardrobe and storage reviews, laundry and preparations for the household’s return.

  • Receive post, parcels and deliveries, monitor stocks of cleaning products and other household supplies, and advise when products or equipment need to be replenished or replaced.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve household organisation and report any maintenance requirements, damage, breakages or anything unusual to the appropriate member of the household team.

  • Work warmly and collaboratively with the chefs and other household staff, while maintaining the highest standards of discretion, privacy and professional boundaries at all times.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Housekeeper within high-standard private households.

  • Excellent, verifiable professional references.

  • Valid permission to work in Spain or the legal right to work in the country.

  • A high level of discretion, trustworthiness, professionalism and responsibility.

  • Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider household team.

  • An observant, proactive, flexible and warm personality, with a genuine interest in building a long-term professional relationship with the family.

  • A good level of English would be highly desirable.

  • Willingness to provide any documentation and undergo any background checks that may be required as part of the recruitment process.
